Sophie Stewart

Sophie Stewart is the Founder of CORE YOGA REHAB.  She has a wide movement background, including training in ballet and contemporary dance.  She practiced traditional Ashtanga yoga (Mysore) for many years, and has taught all styles of yoga from Kundalini to hatha to hot[1]. Sophie’s yoga is in the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya (1888-1989), who believed in yoga practice for self-empowerment, a deeper understanding of ourselves and self-healing. Sophie also has significant knowledge of medical qigong, Zen meditation, pilates and natural movement.

Sophie developed CORE YOGA REHAB after her own serious core issues.

As a result of a respiratory disorder and years’ of inadvertently stressing her core, Sophie’s abdominal wall was left in tatters and required a surgical reconstruction.   The surgeon failed to sew her abdominal wall to the top and she later developed an upper diastasis recti.  This left her unable to practice conventional yoga and so she created her own practice to help restore core function.  Soon she was approached by others with core issues for assistance. CORE YOGA REHAB was born.

In addition, for decades Sophie has worked as a wellbeing consultant to UHNW clients. She enjoys a very wide-ranging interest in health, including nutrition (nourishment and detoxification), Ayurveda, biological dentistry, creating a healthy house, electrical and EMF remediation (Sophie has no wifi in her residence!), hormone replacement, restorative medicine, aesthetics and natural healing. She now shares her methods with the public via her specialised health coaching service.

Sophie is a barefoot walker, usually accompanied by her pug dog, and enjoys swimming outside (she never swims breaststroke, which is contraindicated for those with core issues), as well as saunas.  She has a passion for all things equine.

Sophie relaxes by reading a good book in the bath.  And by eating chocolate!
